Jean Kirkland AKA Black Venus 1949-1995
Jean Kirkland started out as a power lifter and bodybuilder accounting for her impressive muscles. She trained under the Fabulous Moolah and entered the WWE in 1985.
She was the only active African American female in the WWE during the 80’s and she has still not been honoured or recognised by the organisation for her accomplishments in the sport or the role she played in laying the groundwork for future black female wrestlers.
